A whiskey pairing dinner at Sequoia
Spread the love

Did you see the last time I hosted a dinner a Sequoia? It was an epic meal! So I thought why not do it again? This time I called up the boys and said, “Let’s Be Seen at Sequoia and do a whiskey pairing dinner.” Dapper dudes, great whiskey and delicious food made for an ideal night of camaraderie.

On the weekends, Sequoia has amazing bottomless brunches. The “You Had Me at Sangria” Saturday brunch features endless sharable plates and free flowing cocktails. The “All You Care to Enjoy” Sunday Brunch offers so many delectable dishes that you might not want to eat the day before so you can sample a little bit of everything from the many stations throughout the restaurant.

While I’m a huge fan of their brunches, I wanted to do something different,That’s where the whiskey pairing dinner idea came from. Why not have the chef bring out some of his favorite dishes and showcase them along side of Sequoia’s whiskeys? From a seafood tower to a tomahawk steak, Sequoia won the hearts of all the gents while filling their bellies.

The Meal

10 pound lobster

Seafood Tower

Bourbon Pulled Pork Sliders

Brisket

BBQ Ribs

Lamb Chops

Tomahawk Steak

The Whiskeys

Jefferson’s Ocean (aged in barrels at sea)

Reservoir Bourbon Whiskey

John J Bowman Bourbon

Filibuster Bourbon

Sagamore Spirit Rye

Catoctin Creek Roundhouse Rye

Whiskey Pairing Meal Slideshow

Sequoia is that rare gem of a restaurant where you can go in and create your own whiskey pairing dinner based on items right off the menu. For a more intimate setting, book a private event and let Sequoia do all the work for you. Either way it’s definitely worth the experience. Just ask any one of my friends. When you go, tell them the DCFashion Fool sent you. Thank me later.

Sequoia is part of the Ark Restaurants which also includes Thunder Grill in Union Station as well as other fine restaurants all over the country including New York City, Las Vegas, Boston and Florida to name a few.

Look Details for the Whiskey Pairing Dinner

To keep up with these stylish gents, I knew I’d have to come with a strong look. For a whiskey evening with the gents try a double-breasted suit. I paired mine with a striped shirt and silver tie.

Navy double-breasted suit – Armani | Striped shirt – Joseph Abboud| Silver tie – Armani | Pocket square – Budd Shirtmakers
