Key West is a tropical paradise that captivates you from the moment you set foot on the island.  Known for such popular attractions such as the Southernmost point, the Hemingway House, exhilarating water activities and a plethora of roosters roaming freely throughout town, shopping is generally the last thing on your mind when a cold margarita can chase your worries away. However if you bypass the typical tourist t-shirt shops or the factory outlet stores that seem to pop up everywhere, the Conch Republic does boast some shopping gems that would                                                                 definitely give you a change in attitude.

Kino’s Sandal Factory (107 Fitzpatrick Street) specializes in handmade sandals with natural leather uppers and natural rubber soles. These stylish sandals come in several varieties and can be custom-made to your specifications.  Visitors can actually watch the sandals being made and best of all, these island gems are relatively inexpensive so you can pick up several pairs.

Evolution Key West (701 Duval Street) carries clothing that can take you from a day of play to a night on the town Key West style.  Here you can grab the latest trends in swimwear by such names as Pistol Pete, Park & Ronen and Andrew Christian and then grab a look perfect for a sunset dinner date in names like Superdry, G Star Raw and Adriana Goldschmied.  While you’re there, look for the Daniel Wellington watches which has been a favorite by GQ and comes in a variety of styles.  The store’s logo featuring a monkey wearing glasses is also a popular t-shirt item.

If you still can’t find the perfect swimwear, venture a little further down Duval to Graffitti’s Men’s Clothing and Accessories (721 Duval Street).  With brands like Diesel and Aussiebum, you are sure to find the look that’s just right for you.  The store also has a nice variety of shorts and t-shirts that can get you pool or beach ready in no time.  Don’t forget to check out the accessories, Graffitti’s selection of hats, belts and shoes offer some nice finishing touches.

American Boy (806 Duval Street) has a great selection of logo and novelty t-shirts that are definitely a cut above your average t-shirt shop.  Located in the same building as Towels of Key West, here you can also find some unique necklaces but more importantly are the reversible shorts.  I was particular enamored with blue and white pair with an island flair.

After making the rounds, why not complete the look with a stop by Eyes on Duval Street (914 Duval Street)? Not only can you protect your peepers with beach mainstay sunglass looks from Ray Ban, Oakley and Maui Jim but the store also features other designer brands such as Bulgari, Prada and Gucci, to name a few.  After you’ve made the rounds, you’ll be ready for that cold margarita and will look fantastic drinking it.  Until next time, happy shopping!
