Spread the love

On a beautiful summer night, I had the opportunity to enjoy an incredible Mediterranean feast at the top of the Watergate Hotel. Sounds pretty amazing doesn’t it? Well it was! The event was hosted by Elevate and Co, a really unique company focusing on navigating cultural and geographical differences. This was their first Culture Sense dinner.

Elevate and Co recently started a non-profit organization called Culture Sense, with the vision of spreading, promoting, and inspiring cultural tolerance globally. The purpose of the elaborate Mediterranean dinner was to introduce the concept right here in Washington, DC. The idea was to bring together an exciting group of business leaders, media influencers, and those involved in the diplomatic/international relations community in an informal setting for a lively conversation on cultural awareness. How I got included with this phenomenal group of individuals, I’ll never know but I’m glad I attended.

The DCFashion Fool with Suzie Sims

Not only was the meal as delicious as it looked. It was one of the few times I’ve actually put down my phone through an entire meal and engaged with the people at the Culture Sense dinner. The hosts, Caroline Pugh, Suzie Sims and Jad Elmasri curated a fascinating group of people that just got to freely share ideas in a congenial atmosphere. For me, it was a great way to get out and meet some different folks as well as talk about ideas and cultures, which rarely happens nowadays. I was grateful for the opportunity to participate and am excited continue the conversations at future events. It is my hope that you as my readers come along on this journey. Whether that is attending future or events or just following along on the blog.

If you’ve been reading the DCFashion Fool for a while now, you’ll notice that the blog and my Instagram have become a lot more than fashion. I still want to showcase that Washingtonians do have a sense of style. However, I’m also showing where I’m wearing some of my looks. Style does not exist in a vacuum. So don’t worry for those who read the blog for my fashion tips, ideas and advice. There’s still plenty of that to go around. However, I hope to do a bit more.

Washington, DC is an incredible place and what better to show off my style than at the places and events that make this town great? So as The DCFashion Fool becomes the Man About DC, I want you to come along for the ride. You know I’m going to dress for whatever event I attend so I’ll continue to give you the details. But I hope you also enjoy the people, places and events of the city along with me. The Culture Sense dinner was just one stop on the way to highlighting the best of DC.
