Spread the love

I remember the first time I picked out a made to measure suit. It was the new experience that excited me. I was having a suit made to fit especially for me. While the suit came out perfectly fine, the company talked me out of doing things that would be uniquely me. I don’t feel I injected a lot of my personality into the suit. That has never been the case when working with Indochino.

It’s been nearly two years since Indochino opened its first showroom in the Washington metropolitan area. And in that time, I’ve done several suits with the company and I have been pleased every time. Originally, the Vancouver based company made a name for itself selling its suits online but has since branched out into adding showrooms throughout the United States and Canada. Truth be told some of the original reviews of the company were not flattering however when the company entered the DC market I wanted to give them a try.

My experience was nothing but stellar but I can’t say if I received better treatment because the company considered me an influencer or that they knew I was writing about my experience. However based on my experience, I’ve continued to put Indochino on my recommendation list to my friends and readers. Interesting enough, at a reception for the White House Correspondence Dinner this year, I noticed a friend had on an amazing suit. He told me he had read about Indochino from me and decided to try them out. I was a little jealous. First of all he picked a fabric that I was dying to get. And secondly, the suit looked incredible on him. Dare I say better on him than it would look on me? He made an excellent choice.

Price

There are several reasons why I think Indochino is one of my best bets. I think it’s important to showcase where guys can shop in DC at a variety of price points. Indochino is a great option for a made to measure suit at a good price. What’s nice is that they usually have pretty good sales so you can generally find a deal. That means you can get a made to measure suit designed to fit you at off the rack prices. Sometimes it’s at an even better deal than a department store.

Express Your Personality

Another very important reason Indochino makes my list is they really let you express your personality. The shop has a variety of fabric choices from more conservative to some really fun patterns. Add in some really fun linings and the ability to customize your suit design, you can create something that is uniquely you. While they may not have as many choices as some other custom shops, there’s still a nice selection to choose from. Plus even though they have an online presence, with 2 showrooms in the Washington area, your measurements can be done in-house by their trained staff. Personally I don’t trust myself to take my own measurements and having local showrooms is an added convenience.

Recently the Indochino has added more casual clothing to their made to measure repertoire. Starting this spring, the clothier added short sleeve shirts designed to be worn tucked or untucked. These shirts along with their made to measure chino collection now allows the modern man to add more relaxed styles to his wardrobe. If there’s anything I am disappointed in, it would be the promise of pajamas. The company teased the ability to turn their unique linings into snazzy pjs. I was ready to jump all over them. Alas it was a cruel albeit clever April Fool’s joke.

This post showcases my different suits I’ve crafted.  My latest creation (see below) is from Indochino’s seasonal fabric collection. The Southam burgundy plaid suit is woven out of wool and linen and a great lightweight suit for the summer. Plus the bold pattern is right up my alley!
