Winter has hit DC pretty hard and I normally when it does, I like to stay huddled up on my couch and binge Netflix. But this is a new year and I’m determined to make the most of it. So despite the cold, I put together a great look for the DC Dapper Dudes brunch.

One of my goals for 2018 is to work more with other DC creatives. There are some awesome guys around DC who have great style. I figure if we band together we can prove the DC really does have some fashionable gents. So in kicking off the year, I hosted the first DC Dapper Dudes brunch.

I was pretty impressed with the turn out for an initial outing. Plus to ask guys to put on their best tailored looks and brave the frigid weather for a meet up was a lot to ask. Even more impressive was standing outside with these dapper gentlemen as we perfected our #squadgoal poses.

Naturally since I was hosting the DC Dapper Dudes brunch. I could not dress like a slouch. Secretly I had to confer with a few guys on what they were wearing. I didn’t want to have to have “Who wore it better, “ moment. But I was able to pull something out of my closet.

What I hope comes out of the DC Dapper Dudes is a way to be a better influencer. I believe there’s room in this town for many guys to be successful in showcasing and educating great Washington style. As we all grow, it’s our readers and Washington who benefits. And that’s a good thing. Keep following my blog and check out whose blogs I’m following for more inspiration.

How to be one of the DC Dapper Dudes when it’s cold

Generally, in DC you can get away with a three-season wool suit. However when the weather drops down to the teens or below zeros, you’ll want to look for something that’s going to provide a little more warmth. Stay away from linens and silks and look for heavier flannels and wool suits with a weight of 16 ounces. Top it off with a wool or cashmere overcoat and you’ll be almost ready to brave the elements. But don’t forget the accessories. Gloves, scarves and hats not only make great final touches but they can also help combat the cold.
