Fighting wardrobe fatigue during New York Fashion Week Men’s

Spread the love

This year for New York Fashion Week, I decided I was going to be a bit more casual. While I love a suit and a great tailored look, I’m also a fan of the elevated casual look. These are the looks that are great for an evening out with friends or a Tuesday exploring Soho. And with the weather still cold, now is the a great time to hit those end of the season sales and fight wardrobe fatigue.

After a full day of fashion shows and presentations on day 1, Tuesday was a bit more relaxed. Sure the calendar was full with more events. Fortunately however, they were all later in the evening. So I decided to meet up with some friends, shoot some content and explore Soho. Naturally with free time to explore the city, a more casual look was the way to go.

This is an interesting time of year is a really interesting period especially being in New York for Fashion Week. You are attending shows for the upcoming Fall/Winter season so they are not available yet. But most stores have started putting out their spring/summer collections. Yet it’s still cold outside.

Last month I mentioned that it’s a good time to pick up a winter coat. The same reasoning can be made for enhancing your winter wardrobe. Primarily, it’s because of the great sales retailers are offering to move out their cold weather inventory to get ready for the warmer months. Another reason why it’s a good time and is one of my favorites is wardrobe fatigue.

Wardrobe fatigue comes from growing tired of what’s in your closet. Face it. At the beginning of the season you may have picked up some new items that you were dying to showcase. But now that you’ve worn them a few times you’re ready to try something new. If you hit those sale racks of the stores and/or check out the clearance section on some of your favorite websites, you may walk away with some great new looks. And since it’s still winter, you can wear these looks now.

Fighting wardrobe fatigue and want to capitalize on sales? Here are a few great tips to help you shop. First, don’t’ just shop to shop. Look for pieces that can be worn season to season or replace worn out basics and classics. Also, check out the clearance section of some of the higher end retailers. While you may not shop there regularly, many retailers offer an additional percentage off already reduce prices.
