Spring is here and it’s time to break out of the winter doldrums. As Washington is opening back up, people are not only returning to work but are also feeling the need to get out and socialize again. That means the stay-at-home attire of sweats and a t-shirt are no longer the acceptable outfit du jour. In the market for some new dudes? Here are some of the men’s spring trends for spring.

Time and time again, there’s a misconception about finding some great men’s clothes in the Washington metropolitan area. While it’s easy to point and click at home and shop online, it can be nice to go out and explore the city. What’s great is that men can find some fantastic looks at all price points. Standalone stores like Ike Behar and Billy Reid in Georgetown have some great finds. All the higher end, City Center DC in the heart of the city can satisfy your designer needs. While malls like the Fashion Center at Pentagon City have some excellent options for men at reasonable price points.

Recently, the DCFashion Fool had the opportunity to discuss the 2022 men’s spring trends for 2022 on Good Day DC with Wisdom Martin. The idea is not necessarily for guys to come out of their comfort zone but to add some freshness and a little update to their wardrobe. And what are some of the men’s spring trends? For 2022, consider versatility, bright colors, knitted polos and bold patterns.

Men’s spring trends: Versatility

A lot of guys are returning to office after being home in sweats for over two years. For some, the idea of putting on a suit does not sound very appealing. Look for pieces that are business casual for the office but can also work for a great evening out.

Men’s spring trends: Knitted Polo

The knitted polo is an updated take on the classic polo shirt. Knitted sweater material gives this shirt and holds its shape quite nicely. It’s an elevated slightly dressier version of the everyday polo. Keeping with the versatility trend, the knitted polo looks great by itself or as a layering piece under a blazer. Pro tip: Grab them in hot spring colors like this light blue one featured. Also consider shirts with bold stripes and patterns. They give a look a nice retro vibe. Pair these polos with some of this season’s hot bolder colors in khakis for the perfect spring look

Men’s spring trend: Bold Patterns

A bold pattern is definitely a way to get out of the winter doldrums. Pairing it with staples like a simple white button shirt and navy pants help it make a statement.  However, these are just any pants. While they may look like your traditional khakis, they are the perfect transition from sweats to work wear. These beauties come with an elastic waist, have a drawstring and are super stretchy.

Men’s Spring Trends: Bright Colors Bright

Despite the move to more casual styles, guys are still opting for suiting and blazers to add to their wardrobe. The choice to wear a suit or don that blazer is more of a personal style choice and not so much the uniform of the past. So why not go bold with these looks as well? Don’t be afraid to pair pattern on pattern. Here a plaid blazer is paired with a bright colored shirt for a great men’s spring trend.

On Tony: Jacket and shirt all by Ike Behar. Interesting fact: Ike Behar designed the suits worn by Keanu Reeves for the John Wick movies.

Opting for color is one of the hottest men’s trends for spring. Traditional colors like yellow and light blue are always great and green will be really hot this season. Another color to consider is blush. The light pale pink is another fantastic choice for the season.
